How to Be Saved

The Bible says, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life…” I John 5:13. God wants us to know that we can go to Heaven, but we must do it God’s way. Proverbs 16:25 is very clear about this: “There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”

First of all, we are all sinners, and must repent of our sins. Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” In Luke Chapter 13, verses 3 & 5, Jesus Christ Himself said, “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” To repent means “to change one’s mind.” In this case, one must change his/her mind, from thinking that one is not a sinner, and that sin is not so bad, to agree with God that he/she is a sinner, and that the penalty for sin is death. Romans 6:23a; “For the wages of sin is death…”

Now, you might say that you don’t have much sin and you might think, “How could God condemn me to death for such a little offense.” Well, suppose you have apple trees in your yard. You notice that two of them have apples on them and one does not. Does that mean that the one without apples is not an apple tree? No! It is an apple tree, and sooner or later the fruit will surface. In the same way…each of us are sinners. You see – we must believe God’s Word. “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God,” John 3:18. Again, in John 3:36, the Bible says, “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”

Secondly, God does not want anyone to go to Hell, and that is why He sent His only begotten Son (the Lord Jesus Christ) to die on the cross and pay the penalty for our sins. Romans 5:8, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” God loves us so much that He made a way for our sins to be forgiven. He offers His forgiveness and salvation freely. “…the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord,” Romans 6:23b. However, like all gifts, the gift of salvation is not yours until you receive it.

Thirdly, here is how you can receive Christ as your personal Savior. Romans 10:9, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” You must believe in your heart and call on the Lord to save you. Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Why not pray right now, repenting of your sins (change your mind and agree with God), asking God to forgive you, and receive the gift of eternal life? If you do this, please contact us and let us know about your decision. We want to rejoice with you and offer you some assistance in locating a good Bible-preaching church to attend in your location.
