Church Ministries

At Mancelona Baptist Church our members are involved in many of the fundamental ministries that keep our church strong. These are ministries that allow our members to grow together in Christ, and keep our services running smoothly.

Sunday School

On every Lord’s Day, Bible classes are taught for every age from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. We seek to teach a balanced and complete blend of sound Bible doctrine and practical training tailored for each respective age group. Dedicated Christian lay-people and the pastoral staff of Mancelona Baptist Church teach our classes.

At the end of every SS year the children enjoy a Funny Money carnival where they spend “Funny Money” at the carnival games to win tickets to purchase prizes. They earned their money through good-deeds done throughout the SS year. It’s a great time for the entire SS program to reward the children and recognize the SS workers for a year of sacrificial service.

Men’s Ministries

Our men enjoy coming together to enjoy a nice Saturday morning breakfast as often as they can! It is a time of fellowship, food, prayer and encouragement around God’s word, as well as an opportunity for father-son time. Come join us and see how refreshing it is to fellowship with the men of our church–there’s always enough food for everyone!

Ladies Ministries

Our ladies meet as often as possible for Bible Study, fellowship and encouragement. They also host other events throughout the year such as a Mother-daughter Tea Banquet, and a Christmas party and cookie exchange. Our ladies also enjoy getting together and traveling to other churches in the area for times of fellowship around God’s Word.

Best Years Fellowship

This ministry is designed to provide regular activities that give encouragement and strengthening to our more “mature adults.”  This fellowship also gets together to go on fun outings around our northern Michigan area. Please come and join us and meet new friends!

Deacons

Our deacons are men servants ordained at MBC into the office of deacon. The office is not a position of leadership, but a position of responsibility. This responsibility is serving God’s people as needed in leadership roles or helping roles, as well as assisting our Pastor and allowing him to devote more time to reaching, teaching, preaching, praying, and discipling.

Acts 6:1-7: And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration. Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

¶And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch: Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them. And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

I Timothy 3:8-13: Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre; Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

Music Ministry

Our music ministry is an integral part of our church. We joyfully practice a traditional style of music. We could participate and practice any type of music we wanted too…, but we consciously choose the old hymns and spiritual songs of the Christian faith that provide a deep meaning and a strong spiritual impact upon the spirit, encouraging our hearts to turn to God in worship of Him. Our music is not affiliated with the Contemporary Christian Music movement. We enjoy and are encouraged by uplifting traditional hymns and spiritual songs (Eph. 5:19; Col 3:16).

The choir, soloists, duets, trios, quartets, and instrumentalists perform special music to edify the saints and glorify God. We purposely seek to avoid an “entertainment” atmosphere in the house of God during our worship services.

We have one piano and one organ in the main sanctuary. We currently enjoy using top-of-the-line audio and video equipment in our sanctuary.
